KATHMANDU: Australia won the World Test Championship after defeating India.

On Monday, Australia won the last match at The Oval in England by a score of 209 runs.

Virat Kohli of India hit 49 runs off 78 balls, including seven fours. Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane batted together for 86 runs for the fourth wicket.

Kohli and Rahane’s partnership attempted to put India back into the contest. Australia dominated the game when Scott Boland lost two successive wickets in the 47th over.

Rahane batted 108 times and scored 46 runs. Rohit Sharma, the captain and opener, scored 43 runs off 60 balls. KS Bharat, the wicketkeeper, scored 23 runs from 41 balls.

Cheteshwar Pujara was out for 27 runs off 47 balls, including 5 fours.

For Australia, Nathan Lyon claimed four wickets and Scott Boland three. Mitchell Starc finished with two wickets.

Before that, Australia declared the fourth day over after losing 270 runs and 8 wickets in the second innings. India received a target of 444 runs after trailing by 173 runs in the first innings.
