Dragon boat race to be held in Pokhara, Chinese special boat arrived
The competition will be held to promote Chinese tourists and to improve Nepal-China relations.
POKHARA: Pokhara hosting the Dragon Boat Race Festival on Ashar 8-9 (June 23-24).
The competition will be held to promote Chinese tourists and to improve Nepal-China relations.
A boat race will be held at Phewa Tal as part of a collaboration between the Nepal Tourism Board, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and the Pokhara Metropolitan City.
Eight special boats from China have been transported to Pokhara for this purpose.
The boat has also been tested, according to Pomnarayan Shrestha, Chair of the Pokhara Tourism Council. A boat race will be held between eight teams, four Chinese and four Nepalese.
The Nepal-China Dragon Boat Race Festival would bring 260 Chinese tourists and 60 athletes to Pokhara via charter flight.
On the same day, Pokhara International Airport will get its first international flight.
The festival is expected to cost around 25 million.
