KATHMANDU: Road digging has been prohibited throughout the country for three months during the rainy season.
The road department issued a notification on Thursday stating that road digging is prohibited from Ashar 1 (June 16) to the end of Bhadra (mid-Sept).
The department’s administration has stated that no roads should be dug from Ashar 1 (June 16) to the end of Bhadra (mid-Sept) since roads dug during the rainy season will deteriorate considerably further.
According to the office, if the road is dug for water, sewage, power, telephone, and other uses, it cannot be instantly repaired and restored to its original state, and the road would deteriorate.
The office has also stated that authorization to dig the road will not be granted until the end of Bhadra (mid-Sept). If it is found that the road has been forcibly dug up without notice, the office has warned that action would be taken in accordance with the Public Roads Act-2031.
