KATHMANDU: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Swedish and Italian club AC Milan forward, has announced his retirement from football.

“I say goodbye to football but not to you,” stated Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic has already stated his intention to leave the Italian club.

Ibrahimovic scored 511 goals for PSG, Manchester United, AC Milan, and Inter Milan clubs. He won league titles in four different nations.

In 2019, Ibrahimovic returned to AC Milan. However, owing to injuries, he only appeared in four games this season.

Milan’s deal with Ibrahimovic expires this month.

‘Milan has many emotions for me. Forza Milan and goodbye,’ said Ibrahimovic, ‘the first time I came here you gave me happiness, the second time you gave me love. You welcomed me with open arms. You made me feel at home. I will be a Milanista for the rest of my life.’

Ibrahimovic has won 34 trophies throughout his career, including 14 league crowns. He was nominated for the Ballon d’Or 11 times.
