School shuts for a week due to extreme heat
The schools will be shuttered beginning today.

KATHMANDU: Due to the high heat, schools in Rautahat will be shuttered for one week.
The District Education Development and Coordinating Unit Rautahat issued an order to all municipalities in the district to close schools for one week beginning today.
The schools will be shuttered beginning today, according to a statement issued by the coordination unit’s chief, Ramvinay Kumar Singh, after the district’s 18 municipal offices were instructed to close the schools for a week.
The school had to close after receiving a request for a week of summer vacation to be removed from the annual holiday owing to the excessive heat, which is having a detrimental effect on academics and some children are dying, according to the notification given by the unit chief Singh.
Currently, maximum temperatures in Madhesh State areas, including Rautahat, have reached 42 degrees Celsius.
