KMC introduced a cutting-edge 64-channel 3 Tesla MRI for the first time in Nepal
Previously, a three Tesla MRI with up to 32 channels was used in Nepal.
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal, Kathmandu, has installed a cutting-edge MRI machine.
KMC has introduced a cutting-edge 200-64 channel 3 Tesla MRI for the first time in Nepal on Thursday.
Previously, a three Tesla MRI with up to 32 channels was used in Nepal.
KMC’s radiology department head, Pradip Mishra, announced that the hospital’s MRI capacity has been increased by twofold. “We have introduced 3 Tesla MRI of 64 channels for the first time in Nepal,” said Mishra, in charge. “Previously, there were MRIs of up to 32 channels in Nepal; this is the latest MRI in Nepal so far.”
This MRI is quick and efficient due to its huge capacity. MRIs typically take 30 minutes. A patient who would normally take 30 minutes with conventional machines may now receive an MRI in roughly 5 minutes with this equipment.
Similarly, Mishra, the radiology department’s chief, stated that because this is a cutting-edge MRI, the patient’s disease or problem can be detected readily and clearly.
This MRI, manufactured in Germany by Siemens, was purchased by KMC for approximately 250 million.
Narayan Dahal, the General Manager of KMC, stated that the service was delivered at a lower cost than other locations due to the use of state-of-the-art MRI.
