KATHMANDU: The third women’s T-20 International was won by the visiting Nepal side over the home team Malaysia.

Nepal trounced Malaysia by 27 runs in Thursday’s match. With the victory, Nepal now leads the three-match women’s T-20 international Series 2-1.

Following Nepal’s target of 111 runs, Malaysia scored only 83 runs after losing four wickets in the allowed 20 overs.

Mahirah Izzati Ismail of Malaysia finished unbeaten on 44 runs off 54 balls, with 6 fours. While Winifred Duraisingam scored 20 runs in 38 balls, the other Malaysian hitter was unable to reach double numbers.

Nepal’s Sita Rana Magar, Indu Burma, and Kabita Kunwar each got one wicket. Prior to it, Nepal scored 110 runs in the stipulated 20 overs after losing the toss and batting first.

Rubina Chhetri, the captain of Nepal, scored 27 runs in 15 balls, including three fours and one six.

In the second over, Nepal lost opener Kabita Kunwar for two runs.

However, the 35-run partnership for the second wicket between Jyoti Pandey and Sita Rana Magar spurred Nepal to a good total.

Sita scored 21 runs in 35 balls, while Jyoti scored 23 runs in 24 balls, including three fours. Nepal was on track for a big total thanks to a 32-run third-wicket stand between Sita Rana Magar and Indu Barma.

Barma scored 20 runs from 30 balls. For the third wicket, Indu and captain Rubina Chhetri combined for 29 runs off 21 balls. Rana Magar stayed unbeaten thanks to third-place finisher Bindu Rawal and first-place finisher Kabita Joshi.

Nik Nur Atiela took two wickets for Malaysia, while Aisya Eleesa and Winifred Duraisingam each took one.

The fourth match against Malaysia is scheduled for next Saturday.
