KATHMANDU: The continuously increasing temperature has badly affected the life of the residents of Parsa.

Since there hasn’t been any rain in a long time, the temperature in the afternoon has reached 44 degrees, increasing the number of sick people.

The number of patients with diarrhea, pneumonia, and fever at Narayani Hospital in Birganj has increased, according to doctors, with the arrival of summer.

Dr. Udayanarayan Singh, senior physician and emergency medicine expert at Narayani Hospital, stated that youngsters and the elderly are the most affected by the heat. He claims that as summer approaches, so does the risk of ‘heat stroke’ or ‘loo’ in Parsa.

The risk of exposure to daily wage earners and hard workers, according to Dr. Singh, is heightened by the hot air that blows throughout the afternoon when the temperature is high.

To prevent the rising heat, he recommended the general people to increase their consumption of liquid fluids such as fruit juice and water, and not to leave the house during the day unless they were working.

Approximately 600 patients visit Narayani Hospital’s outpatient department each year; currently, more than 800 patients visit the hospital’s emergency department, which is running at full capacity, according to doctors.
