KATHMANDU: The Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP), a grassroots organization within the Nepal Revolutionary Farmers Association, has protested for farmers to be provided with chemical fertilizers on time.

The organization protested on Friday at Ratnapark in Kathmandu, demanding that chemical fertilizers be delivered to farmers on time.

They complained that the government of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had lowered the amount of government subsidies provided to farmers in urea fertilizer from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 64 per kg, DAP fertilizer from Rs 59 per kg to Rs 52 per kg, and potash from Rs 58 to Rs 46 per kg.

The government supported by the Nepali Congress has stated that it has no right to occupy the Singha Durbar because it is unable to provide fertilizer at a reasonable price on time, claiming that the current government was forced to maintain the status quo after farmers across the country protested the increase in the price of chemical fertilizers and the reduction of subsidies.

They demanded nationalization of private banks and concealed assets, as well as stern action against all those engaged in the issue of bogus Bhutanese refugee.

NWPP demonstrated with signs calling for the establishment of a chemical fertilizer industry in Nepal, the removal of the three percent vote limit, the repeal of American imperialism, and the repeal of the anti-national citizenship bill.
