India beat Uzbekistan, advanced to final

KATHMANDU: India has qualified for the finals of the NSC-CAVA International Women’s Volleyball Tournament in Kathmandu after defeating Uzbekistan.

India won the first semi-final match on Friday at the Covered Hall of the National Sports Council (NSC) in Tripureshwor.

India, the title contender, defeated Uzbekistan in straight sets, 3-0.

The first set was won with a score of 25-17. India rallied from a 6-point deficit in the second set to win 25-20. India won the match by a score of 25-15 in the third set.

India qualified for the finals with the victory. In the final, India will face the victor of the second semi-final match. On Friday, Nepal and Kazakhstan will compete in the second semi-final.

Nepal hopes to get to the finals by defeating Kazakhstan today. The match between Nepal and Kazakhstan will begin at 5 p.m.

Kazakhstan also hopes to defeat Nepal and go closer to the championship. Kazakhstan won group ‘B’ and advanced to the last four.

Uzbekistan will play for third place against the losing team from the second semi-final.

The ongoing competition is being held with the special support of NSC and is being organized by the Nepal Volleyball Association.

The competition includes Nepal, Bangladesh, the Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
