Public transport fare reduced in Bagmati (with list)

According to Ministry Secretary Asman Tamang, fares within the Kathmandu Valley have been decreased by 5.9 percent, 4.18 percent for short-distance public vehicles outside the valley, and 5.69 percent for freight vehicles.

KATHMANDU: The cost of public transportation in Bagmati State, including Kathmandu Valley, has been reduced. Bagmati State’s Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Transport has decreased the fare.

According to Ministry Secretary Asman Tamang, fares within the Kathmandu Valley have been decreased by 5.9 percent, 4.18 percent for short-distance public vehicles outside the valley, and 5.69 percent for freight vehicles.

He stated, ‘Since the new fare has been published in the gazette, the decreased fare will be applied starting today.’ Previously, when the price of diesel climbed, long-distance vehicle fares increased but short-distance vehicle fares did not since the businessmen fixed the fare.

He said, ‘Since the new fare has been published in the gazette, the reduced fare will be applicable from today.’ Earlier, when the price of diesel increased, long-distance vehicle fares increased but short-distance ones did not, the businessmen themselves set the fare.

Nepal Oil Corporation cut the price of diesel beginning last Wednesday. The government soon adjusted the long-distance prices. The central government determines long-distance, inter-province fares, whereas the state governments regulate short-distance, inter-city fares.

The corporation decreased the price of diesel and kerosene by 10/10 per liter and the price of petrol by 3 rupees on Chaith 20 (April 3). The firm decreased the price of fuel and kerosene by 10/10 per liter beginning last Wednesday.

According to the reduced price, currently the price of diesel has remained at 155 per liter. Last year, the short-distance fares operating within the province increased. According to the increased fare, passengers have been paying 20 rupees as soon as they board public vehicles in Kathmandu Valley.

Here are the new fares:-
