KATHMANDU: Dhaka Kumar Shrestha, a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) suspended member of parliament, has stated that he has raised attention to the allegations leveled against him.

He stated that he paid the party 30 million rupees to become a proportional member of parliament.

Issuing a statement, Dhaka Kumar has claimed that there is no truth in the published news that he has paid 30 million. “Dear brothers and sisters, I have drawn serious attention to the fact that on 2080-02-10, some online media have conveyed the fabricated and baseless news that three crores of rupees have been handed over to the party to become a proportional member of parliament”, he said in the statement, “Since I have not spoken to any media on the said matter. And I express my regret for not even requesting for news transmission and for causing moral problems with my name.’

He has also warned that he will be forced to go through the legal process against character assassination of individuals and parties. “Finally, if any other media, without an approved basis, creates such misleading and factual news and transmits the news that assassinates the character of the person and the party, I will be forced to take legal action myself,” Dhaka Kumar said in a statement.

He was suspended from both the party and parliament after the audio of Durga Prasai, a medical professional, asking him to hand over 20 million rupees to the party to become a minister.

On Wednesday, there were reports that Swayam Shrestha himself had said that he had handed over 3 crore rupees to the party’s deputy chairman DP Aryal and spokesperson Dr. Mukul Dhakal while making proportional MPs.
