Newly appointed Forest Minister – herbs export to abroad be made easier

KATHMANDU: Birendra Prasad Mahato, Nepal’s newly appointed Forest and Environment Minister, has stated that it will be easier to export herbs grown in Nepal.
He expressed this commitment after being reinstated in the Ministry.
“Herbs, which are indigenous products, will be the first priority in order to facilitate export and encourage production,” he stated.
He also said that special attention will be paid to the management of rotting wood.
“From the second twentieth year, if we can export the rotted wood and organize it according to the Nepal government’s rules and regulations, or if we can consume it in the country, we will save it by making it easier and preventing it from rotting,” he added.
He stated that he will focus on easing the complicated processes in the Ministry of Forestry, such as the awarding of usufruct rights for hydropower projects.
The data from the Ministry of Forestry have not been forwarded for years on the upcoming hydropower difficulties. I will promote hydropower by making it more accessible.’ He said.
He claimed that as long as he remains in the ministry, he will not allow corruption and will not act under any temptation. .
‘As long as I remain in the ministry, I will not work under any temptation of greed, having zero tolerance for corruption. ‘I shall work for the good of the country and its people.’
