Storm in Kanchanpur: roofs of houses & schools blown off, electricity disrupted

KATHMANDU: The storm that lashed Kanchanpur on Tuesday night injured two laborers.

According to the District Police Office Kanchanpur, Ganesh Chaudhary and Helo Chaudhary of Bardiya were injured when a tin-covered temporary house in Bhimdatta Municipality-18 Salghari collapsed due to the wind.

“A laborer from Lama Construction Service who was working in the market area was injured,” stated Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dangi, Spokesperson for the District Police Office Kanchanpur. “The seriously injured Ganesh was taken to Dhangadhi in Kailali for treatment.”

Roofs of temporary houses and schools in Kanchanpur have been damaged as a result of last night’s storm. “There has been no loss of life, and the details of the structure’s destruction are being gathered,” Dangi said, adding that “electricity service has been disrupted in some places due to the fall of electricity poles.”
