KATHMANDU: Kami Rita Sherpa, a record-breaking mountaineer, has reached the peak of Mount Everest for the 28th time. He reached the summit of Everest at 9:23 a.m.
On Wednesday Jestha 3 (May 17), after reaching the peak of Everest, the Sherpas, who returned, climbed for the second time in the morning.
In addition, Kami Rita, 53, has set a record for ascending Mount Everest the most times.
Kami Rita, who climbed Everest for the first time on May 13, 1994, retains the record for ascending the highest peak of 8,000 meters.
This spring, the Department of Tourism has issued permits to 478 fee-paying individuals, the highest permits issuance on record, to climb Everest.
His mountaineering journey began in 1992, when he joined an Everest trip as a support staff member. Since then, Kami Rita has bravely undertaken on countless excursions, including multiple summits of Mount Everest.
Kami Rita’s accomplishments go beyond Everest, as he has also scaled other challenging summits such as K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu.
