KATHMANDU: A new hotel ‘Barahi Kathmandu’ in Thamel, Kathmandu under Barahi Hospitality has come into operation from Jestha 7 (May 21).

The four-star standard hotel contains eight suites, 72 deluxe rooms, and 80 rooms.

Yogendra Thapa, corporate director of Barahi Hospitality, stated that the offer charge for the deluxe room is $100.

The hotel offers a coffee shop, restaurant, bar, and a private dining hall. In a few weeks, a meeting hall with a lounge and theater setup for 120 people will be completed.

A hotel located in the chowk of Kesharamahal has an ‘infinity swimming pool’ on the seventh floor of the hotel. According to Poudel, the Narayanhiti Palace is placed on the Mohoda side of the swimming pool, which provides an excellent perspective. The 1,100-square-foot swimming pool is four feet deep.

The Barahi Group has constructed a hotel as well as a business complex. The complex will have offices and other shops from the ground floor to three floors, with a hotel on the remaining six floors.

The wonderful view of Kathmandu Valley can be seen from Hotel Barahi, which is positioned in the’mid point’ of Kathmandu. Bir Shumser’s Phorta Darbar, Swapna Garden, and Narayanhiti Palace all feel like they belong in the hotel’s courtyard. To the north, one can view the snow range, as well as Ghantaghar, Dharahara, Basantapur Durbar, Thamel Bazar, Swayambhu, and the greenery of Shivpuri.

Thapa stated that a hotel with a shopping center cost approximately one billion and forty crore rupees. Bookings for shops and workplaces are also available.

Arun Dev Pant and Anjan Shrestha of ‘Design Cell’ designed Barahi Plaza, which includes a hotel and a shopping complex, while Siddhartha Gopal did the interior design.

Prior to this, there existed a ‘Premium Property’ of Barahi Group in Pokhara and Chitwan, which are called the ‘Golden Triangle’ of Nepali tourism. With the introduction of Barahi Kathmandu, Barahi has now managed to expand its services throughout the Golden Triangle.

4 decades ago, Hari Prasad Poudel started a 9-room Paradise Guest House on the lakeside of Pokhara, and later added facilities to the same hotel and named it Hotel Barahi.

Following in Poudel’s footsteps in the hospitality industry, his sons Biplav and Vaibhav are active in the same venture. Thapa stated that Barahi, which began at the standard level, was Rs 10 per room at the time.

The Barahi Group also owns and operates the Barahi Jungle Lodge in Chitwan, Hotel Barahi in Pokhara, Vyanjan Restaurant, Sarangkot Mountain Lodge, Awas Pokhara, and The Beach Bar and Lodge in Pokhara.

A five-star hotel is being developed in Sedi, Pokhara, under the direction of the Barahi Group, together with a 1,200-capacity auditorium. According to Thapa, Barahi Sedi Limited, a public limited business, will also conduct an initial public offering (IPO).
