Former British Gurkha soldier Budha Magar, who lost both legs fighting the Taliban, has set a world record by successfully climbing Mount Everest.
Budha Magar, from Mirul, Thabang Rural Municipality, Rolpa district, climbed Mount Everest at 3pm on Friday with the help of his prosthetic leg.
“Double amputee ex-soldier Hari Budha Magar created history on Friday by becoming the first person with such conditions to scale Mt Everest,” the official from the Department of Tourism said.
He was the first “two-above-the-knee” amputee to climb a mountain.
Its success is a great encouragement to the disability sector as a whole.
