Man handed long prison sentences for rape

KATHMANDU: The Tanahun District Court sentenced an accused to 9½ years in jail for rape.

Binod BK, 22, of Bandipur Rural Municipality-5 Kalchowk, was sentenced for raping a 13-year-old girl.

The judgement was made by District Judge Komal Prasad Acharya’s bench. Meen Bahadur Kunwar informed the victim that the court had decided to award her Rs 25,000 in compensation.

On the charge of raping the minor on 20th Ashar 2077 (4 July, 2020), the victim’s parents filed a complaint with the local police station in Dumre on the same day.

BK was apprehended by the police on June 24, 2077 (8 July, 2020).

According to the court’s ruling, the accused BK has been in jail detention since Sharwan 13, 2077 (28 July, 2020).
