King’s Winter Palace set to open to public, can be visited on Republic Day onwards
The palace, named after Ratna Temple and Himagriha on Pokhara's lakeside, is set to open on Jestha 15 (May 29).

POKHARA: The government was preparing to open the king’s winter palace on Republic Day.
The palace, named after Ratna Temple and Himagriha on Pokhara’s lakeside, is set to open on Jestha 15 (May 29).
Surendra Raj Pandey, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, visited the Ratna Temple and stated that it will be opened on Republic Day.
Pokhara residents and business owners have been lobbying for the Ratna Mandir to be opened to the public. It is expected that the Ratna Temple complex would become a new tourism destination as well.
He stated that such historical heritage, sites with archeological significance, and conservation should be linked. According to Nepal Trust, there is a technical issue with opening the main part of the temple.
The villagers have demanded that until it is convenient for them to open the main temple, the general public and tourists that come to the premises be shown the condition of the temple by some other means. The tradition of only promising to open the temple and then failing to do so will now be broken.
