Gorkha jeep accident: one killed, five injured

KATHMANDU: Last night, one individual was killed in a jeep accident near Gorkha.

According to Lila Raj Lamichhane, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, a Bolero jeep (BA 01-025 Cha 620) collapsed around 70 meters from the road in Gandaki Rural Municipality-6, Ghauchur.

Kirmaya Ale, 78, of Gandaki Rural Municipality-6, was killed in the accident. Ale, who was critically hurt when the Bolero vehicle on its route to Ghauchur from Kathmandu fell off the road, died while being treated at the Gorkha Hospital, according to DSP Lamichhane.

The accident also injured five additional people. Kanmaya Ale, 77, Dhan Bahadur Ale, 78, Tirtha Bahadur Ale, 81, Tirtha Bahadur Thapa, 72, Purna Bahadur Thapa, and Gangamaya Thapa, 65, are the injured.

The injured are being treated at Bharatpur’s Chitwan Medical College.

According to DSP Lamichhane, the driver of the jeep, Keharsin Thapa, 43, was seized following the collision. According to reports, the cause of the accident has not been determined, and an investigation is ongoing.
