There is no meaning for MPs to speak in parliament: Deepak Giri
He advised the government not to allow additional MPs to embark on a hunger strike after mentioning that MP Sanjay Gautam had to begin a hunger strike for the construction of the Jabdi Bridge.
KATHMANDU: Deepak Giri, a member of the ruling Nepali Congress, has objected that the government did not listen to the demands of the MPs.
He advised the government not to allow additional MPs to embark on a hunger strike after mentioning that MP Sanjay Gautam had to begin a hunger strike for the construction of the Jabdi Bridge.
Speaking at an emergency session of the House of Representatives on Monday, MP Giri expressed his frustration that the administration was unable to act despite MPs continuously drawing attention to the development and building work of the Triyuga Bridge in Udaipur and the Arun Bridge in Sankhuwasabha.
He also warned that the government should not force all MPs to go on hunger strike in order to put pressure on their particular constituencies’ development and construction projects.
“In this dignified parliament, a senior MP Sanjay Gautam is on a hunger strike,” he said, we used to hear that BP Koirala was on a hunger strike for 30 days for the sake of the nation. All those on hunger strike had to sit for the nation.
Sanjay Gautam, a member of Parliament of this dignified parliament, has repeatedly raised some issues of his area in the House, but the government has not paid any attention to it. Now let me say that the road to Nagarkot, which is close to where many things in this country should be built, will not be built. The bridge will not be built. Triyuga bridge of Udayapur will not be built. Sankhuvasabha’s Arun Bridge will not be built. The government does not turn a blind eye when other starts hunger strike. It’s been 3 days today. MP Sanjay Gautam is on hunger strike. May the eyes of this Nepalese government be opened through me, honorable speaker. ‘
MP Giri repeatedly asked the government to be serious about the demands made by the MPs in Parliament.
