KATHMANDU: Chitwan Medical College’s dentistry OPD service has been halted following the suicide of a female student.

Following Simran Thapa, a BDS fourth-year student, committed suicide herself in her room on Wednesday, students protested by shutting down the hospital’s dentistry OPD on Thursday.

The students who were protesting requested that the guilty instructor be punished, claiming that Thapa committed suicide as the teacher expelled her out of the exam hall while she was administering the exam.

According to the Student Struggle Committee, the medical college’s entire OPD service will be halted indefinitely until the victim receives justice and the offender is punished.

The deceased Thapa, whose permanent residence is Palpa Rampur, was staying in a rented room at Ganga Bahadur Thapa’s home in Saptagandaki Chowk, Bharatpur.
