Student commits suicide in Chitwan

KATHMANDU: Simran Thapa, a fourth-year BDS student at Chitwan Medical College, killed herself by hanging.

She rushed to her room and committed suicide when the invigilator threw her out of the hall for stealing the check sheet.

According to Police Inspector Nirmal Paneru of the District Police Office, no suicide note was found with the deceased, but when he found out at the medical college, he realized she had been expelled from the exam hall after stealing the exam sheet.

The deceased Thapa, whose permanent residence is Palpa Rampur, was staying in a rented room at Ganga Bahadur Thapa’s home in Saptagandaki Chowk, Bharatpur.

According to the authorities, she used a scarf to hang herself from the ceiling fan in her bedroom. The incident occurred 500 meters north of the Chitwan District Police Office. The event is being investigated further, according to the authorities. All services at Chitwan Medical College have been suspended since the incident, with the exception of emergency services.

In the statement sent by the students of the medical college, the deceased Thapa was forced to commit suicide after the teacher in charge of the examination pulled her out of the examination hall by causing her mental anguish when she was giving the internal examination.
