KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has named Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s Bindabasini Kansakar as an MP.

Kansakar was chosen as a proportional member of parliament from the RSP quota to fill the vacancy left by MP Dhaka Kumar Shrestha.

According to reports, the Bindabasini Kanshakar MP made his decision last week. RSP head Deepak Bohora confirmed Kansakar’s appointment.

After the tape of RSP MP Dhaka Kumar Shrestha demanding a Rs 2 crore bribe was aired, the party suspended Shrestha. The RSP issue a letter to the EC to replace Shrestha with Kansakar as an MP.

However, the Supreme Court has issued an interim order not to immediately revoke the post of MP Dr. Dhaka Kumar Shrestha, who was prosecuted by the RSVP on Monday.

Kanshakar has also been granted an MP certificate by the EC. According to the commission, he received the certificate confirming his election as an MP on Sunday.

In addition, the Commission has already notified the Federal Parliament Secretariat that Kansakar has been elected MP.
