KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board has announced that preparation for this year’s class 12 annual examination is nearing completion.

According to the board, a total of 467,389 students have filled out the form for the examination, which will begin on Baisakh 26 (May 9).

Dr. Mahashram Sharma, chair of the board, announced that the job of appointing the test center for this year’s class 12th annual examination has been completed.

According to him, the activity of the center president, inspector, appointing, and so on has reached its conclusion.

The board stated that all work except technical work has been finished. This year, more than 56,000 pupils are expected to take the grade improvement exam. They will be required to take the grade increase exam for the subject in which they received the lowest grade.

Previously, students who received non-graded (NG) in three or more subjects were expected to take the examination for all subjects this year.

The 2078 letter grading criteria were changed by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

Furthermore, even if the form for all six topics for the examination is completed, the examination must be administered only for the subjects in which NG has been received.

On the recommendation of the National Examination Board, the Letter Grading Guideline, 2078 was amended at the ministerial level.

Only the grade enhancement examination for that subject will be provided if NG has been attained in more than two subjects. Dr. Sharma, the chair, stated that even though the form was filled out in all six subjects, the examination shall be administered in as many topics as NG has come. Even if you fill out all six subjects on the exam form, you will only be able to take the exam for the subject in which NG appears.

Previously, students who got NG in more than two courses had to sit the exam for the full subject, according to the letter grading system established last year.

However, 56,000 students were required to sit the exam for all courses this year after failing the grade improvement exam last year. As the risk of ‘drop out’ grew as a result of this situation, Education Minister Ashok Kumar Rai changed the criteria based on the board’s proposal.
