Reaffirmed by Patan judgment, now the land of Tukucha cannot remain private: Balen Shah

KATHMANDU: Barendra Shah (Balen), the chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, claimed that the complete wording of the Patan High Court ruling explicitly supported the option of keeping the Tukucha River open in its natural state.

Through Facebook, he said that the complete wording of the ruling has once again demonstrated that Tukucha is not a sewer, but rather a river.

The necessary procedure to put the area under the control of the Tukucha River into public usage will now be in the greatest interest of the city’s residents, he claimed.

The land on the right, left, or above the flow region of any river or stream cannot continue to be held in a single person’s name, according to Mayor Shah.
