Simrik Air chopper crashes in Sankhuwasabha, no casualties thus far

KATHMANDU: A Simrik Air chopper crashed in Sankhuwasabha district on Friday afternoon.

The chopper carrying components for the 900 MW Arun III hydropower project, which is currently under construction, was involved in an crash, according to Sankhuwasabha Chief District Officer Shiva Kumar Karki.

Shiva Kumar Karki, chief district officer of Sankhuwasabha, told Makalu Khabar that the chopper carrying cargo for the Upper Arun hydroelectric project crashed.

Another chopper has been dispatched from Lukla for rescue operations, according to sources, although more information about the incident is yet to come.

The police have reached the scene.
