Harsh punishment for HIV/AIDS discriminators: NHRC

He explained that HIV-infected persons face discrimination not only in their families, communities, and schools, but also in the political sphere.
Similarly, Nepal Police Superintendent of Police Gopal Chandra Bhattarai asked the victims to register a complaint with the police if they were discriminated against.
He stated that strict action would be taken in response to the complaint. He indicated his willingness to incorporate HIV-infected people as minorities in the Nepal Police’s Nepal Police with Minorities initiative. He also stated that the police will work actively in the future to help HIV-positive people.
He further said that everyone should work to raise societal consciousness.
