Rains wreak havoc on Prithvi Highway, deploying additional troops to clear blocked roads

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army has been mobilized to remove the landslide that occurred on Monday in Ganesh River located in Dhading Dhunibensi Municipality-6.

The deployed military engineers team has notified us that there is no immediate need to install an acrobridge at that location. According to military spokesperson Krishna Prasad Bhandari, road department personnel and the army deployed from the Dhading-based Gana have started removing gavion wire from about 10 feet down and replacing it with mud and stones.

He further stated that more military personnel have been mobilized since this morning to clear the blocked route. The highway has been washed out. He stated that work is being done in order to open the road within the next two/three hours.

Passengers have been stranded since the road was blocked since yesterday afternoon. Police said that some of them went to their relatives, but most of them spent the night inside the car.
