KATHMANDU: Laxmi Mahato Koiri, a ‘fugitive MP’ in the Federal Parliament, has been referred to the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committees.

According to details submitted to the Federal Parliament Secretariat by the main opposition party CPN-UML, MP Koiri has been recommended to the Industry Committee.

The House of Representatives meeting will now accept his name based on that proposal.

Koiri has fled after being condemned for his role in the murder of SP Thaman BK, who worked in Mahottari during the Madhesh movement-2. He did, however, write a letter to the Parliament Secretariat explaining that he would be unable to attend the meeting due to health issues.

If he skips 10 consecutive meetings without notice, his MP position will be automatically revoked. All legislative committees have Pahadiya and Khas Arya members, however not a single Pahadiya Khas member has been suggested for the industry committee.

The committee, which also includes Koiri, consists of Raghubir Mahaseth, Shanti Chaudhary, Amruta Devi Agrahari, Hemraj Rai, Lal prasad Sanwa, Ram shankar Yadav, Mangal prasad Gupta.
