Chief Minister of Gandaki & Lumbini taking oath

KATHMANDU: The chief ministers appointed on Thursday in Gandaki and Lumbini States will take oath of office and secrecy today. The newly appointed Chief Minister of Gandaki, Surendra Raj Pandey, will take the oath of office and secrecy today.
According to the office of the state chief, the chief minister Prithvi Man Gurung will administer the oath to Chief Minister Pandey at the office of the state chief at 12:30 noon. Pandey, the leader of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party, became the Chief Minister on Thursday with the support of 35 MPs including 27 from the Congress, 7 from the CPN (Maoist Centre) and 1 from the CPN Unified Socialist Party.
According to the agreement between the Congress and the Maoist Center, Pandey of the Congress became the Chief Minister in the first phase. It is said that the newly appointed Chief Minister Pandey will form a small cabinet today. A new coalition government was formed in Gandaki after the fall of the UML-led government losing the vote of confidence.
The newly appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini State Government Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary is also going to take the oath of office and secrecy today. Chief Minister Chaudhary will take the oath of office and secrecy from the state chief Amik Sherchan at 11 am in the provincial chief’s office.
Chaudhary, the leader of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party, became the Chief Minister on Thursday with the support of 52 members of 8 parties including CPN (Maoist Centre) and one independent MP. It is said that the newly appointed Chief Minister Choudhary is preparing to form a small cabinet today. After the collapse of the CPN (UML) led government, State Chief Sherchan called for the formation of a government.
In the 87-member State Assembly, 29 are from UML, 27 from Congress, 11 from Maoist Center, four each from RPP and Civil Liberation Party, three each from Janamat Party, Janata Samajwadi Party and Democratic Socialist Party, one each from Rastriya Janamorcha and Unified Socialist and one independent. There are six members.
