KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has sealed the Koth Dhuku Petrol Pump in Balaju, Kathmandu.

The Koth Dhuku Petrol Pump, which was operating illegally, was sealed by the city amid concerns of heightened insecurity.

On Feb 22, the KMC asked the Corporation about the condition of all the pumps in its area following a complaint of increased insecurity due to the Koth Dhuku Petrol Pump located on the right side of the Balaju-Thamel road.

Prior to the sealing, the KMC had inquired with the oil corporation about the legal status of the petrol pump, its compliance with requirements, and the danger it posed to the road and people.

In response to the letter, the Oil Corporation stated that it will assist the city in eliminating the substandard petrol pumps.

According to KMC Police Chief Raju Nath Pandey, Koth Dhuku Petrol Pump was shut by the Metropolitan City on Thursday.

As per the Petroleum Product Vendors Regulations, 2018, a gas station operating inside the metropolitan region must be erected on at least 2,500 square metres of land.
