KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa has demanded the government to install CCTV cameras throughout Kathmandu.
Noting that killings in Kathmandu are on the rise, he suggested that the Federal Government and Kathmandu Metropolitan City collaborate to install CCTV in all public areas to ensure peace and security.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, General Minister Thapa expressed his outrage that, despite the fact that a woman was murdered in broad daylight in Saraswati Nagar, Kapan, the government has yet to uncover the truth and prosecute the perpetrators.
He said, ‘It has been 7 days since he was stabbed to death. The police office and the Ministry of Home Affairs are being held. But they have not received a concrete answer. Today, by chance, the Hon’ble Home Minister is present in Parliament. I would like to request, through the Honorable Speaker, that the truth of the incident and the biggest thing is that the citizens of this place cannot believe in the fact that the killing took place in broad daylight. Let the Honorable Minister of Home Affairs create the situation to believe about it. And the fact of this could not be discovered even for seven days. I demand that the culprits of this incident come out as soon as possible.’
