Samsung inaugurates landmark television factory in Nawalparasi, transforms electronics manufacturing landscape in Nepal
This is the first electronics manufacturing facility by a multinational company in Nepal.
KATHMANDU: Samsung, one of the world’s leading consumer electronics and smartphone brands, today celebrated the opening of a major television factory in Nawalparasi in conjunction with Him Electronics, a long-standing partner in Nepal.
This is the first instance of a global corporation establishing an electronics manufacturing factory in Nepal, which will have a significant impact on the local economy.
Shri Ramesh Rijal, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Commerce, and Supplies, and Mr. JB Park, President & CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, opened Samsung’s new television factory.
Mr. Shekhar Golchha, Chair & MD, Golchha Group, Mr. Park Chong-Suk, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Mr. Sung June Park, Nepal Branch Head, Samsung Electronics, and other local dignitaries were also in attendance.
Speaking at the function, Mr. JB Park, President & CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, said, “Samsung has had a long-standing relation with the people of Nepal, having been in the country for over two decades. This new television factory with our partners Him Electronics will further deepen our bond with Nepal and underline the work we are doing to strengthen local industry and provide employment opportunities to people here. It will also facilitate development of skilled manpower. We thank the Nepal Government and local authorities for their strong vision and continued support.”

The foundation for this new television factory in Nawalparasi was laid in August 2022.
The new manufacturing facility marks a watershed moment in Nepal’s manufacturing journey, altering the country’s electronics space with local enterprise, new skills, innovations, and jobs. It will contribute to increased efficiency and productivity, as well as job creation and the development of a stronger electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the country.
Samsung has been present in Nepal for over two decades. It is now a well-known brand in the country. Through a partner, it now sells consumer electronics products such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and cellphones in the Nepal market. It has a large network of 500 electronics retail stores and customer service centers.
