KATHMANDU: A Tokyo-bound Japan Airlines flight with approximately 200 passengers returned to India on Wednesday after over five hours in the air owing to a technical fault.

According to a Delhi airport official, the flight left for Tokyo’s Haneda Airport at 7.20 p.m. on Tuesday and returned around 12.45 a.m. on Wednesday due to a technical glitch.

According to a passenger on board the airline, the flight returned to the national capital on Wednesday after a roughly five-hour voyage.

All of the passengers have been placed at a hotel in Delhi. According to the passenger, the rescheduled flight will depart Delhi late in the evening for Tokyo.

Japan Airlines could not be reached for comment right away, according to international media.

Earlier on Monday, shortly after taking off from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), a Flydubai aircraft caught fire in one of its engines.

However, the flight arrived safely in Dubai on Tuesday morning. However, the Flydubai plane has safely landed at Dubai International Airport. On Monday night, the plane that flew from Kathmandu’s TIA to Dubai landed in Dubai.

The flight landed at 12:11 a.m. (local time) at Dubai International Airport, according to the Government of Dubai Media Office in a Facebook post quoting an airline representative.

The Kathmandu airport was temporarily closed to preparation for an emergency landing.

According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, general manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, the aircraft held over the skies of Dhading for a few minutes before continuing to the destination after all signs were normal.

But after flying in the sky of Kathmandu for a while, the aircraft said that the problem was normal and headed towards its destination. It has already landed in Dubai.

Passengers on board Flydubai, which caught fire in the skies shortly after takeoff on Monday night, have said the flight was horrific.

In response to the Nepali Tiktok user Hansraj’s reaction to the passenger, one of the passengers stated, “At that time, it was as if my breath had stopped, so I took out my mobile phone and was making my own video as if it was the end.”

‘It was like living after death,’ stated another passenger.
