KATHMANDU: Rato Machhindranath’s Rath (chariot) Yatra (procession) begins today.

Chariot pulling will begin today at Pulchowk.

The general public celebrates the Jatra by inviting relatives for a grand feast during the course of the  Jatra.

The Ratha Yatra of Rato Machhindranath is thought to be Lalitpur’s longest Jatra.

Throughout the Jatra period, the chariot was traditionally driven around the toles of Lalitpur.

During the Shuklapaksha month of Baisakh, this Jatra is celebrated for almost two months, from Pratipada to Asad Shukla Chauthi.
