Balen said – ‘Let the federal govt also follow the order of Supreme Court’
He further stated that the court judgment has confirmed residents' right to live in a clean environment.

KATHMANDU: Balendra Sah, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), has stated that he will comply with the Supreme Court’s decision to pick up rubbish from the federal government office area, including Singha Darbar.
He further stated that the court judgment has confirmed residents’ right to live in a clean environment.
However, he stated that respecting the Supreme Court’s authority is only necessary for the Kathmandu Metropolitan and should not be voluntary for the federal government.
He stated that the Supreme Court’s order dated 2076 Shrawan 20 (5 August, 2019) should be followed by the federal government to demolish the houses and structures built by encroaching on the land of Bagmati, Bishnumati, and Manohara and its tributaries in order to maintain the cleanliness of the river and protect public land.
Similarly, the Federal Government has stated that the Supreme Court’s order of 2057 Ashad 9 (23 June, 2000) addressing the demolition of the original construction of the Ministry of Health building and the Supreme Court’s order of two decades earlier about the land acquisition and compensation of Tinkune.
Otherwise, he argued, it would make sense that the court recognized the distinction between the citizen’s courtyard and the Patangini of Singha Durbar as valid.
