In the state assembly meeting on Monday at 11 a.m., UML Chief Minister Giri received only 33 votes in favor of the vote of confidence. He would need 44 MPs votes in the 87-member State Assembly to achieve the majority of confidence.

As the Chief Minister of the UML, he received the votes of only 29 UML members and 4 RPP members.

The opposition received 53 votes, including those from the ruling coalition, including the Congress and the Maoists.
