EC seeks 24-hour clarification from Govinda Bhattarai

TANAHUN: The Election Commission’s District Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee asked for an clarification from Govinda Bhattarai, the representative member candidate for Tanahun-1, for breaking the code of conduct.
According to the monitoring committee, an explanation was sought as Bhattarai had received a complaint saying that he had sent a voice message from his mobile phone after 12:00 on Baisakh 7 (April 20) after the start of the silence period of the election.
The committee has asked Bhattarai to attend in person or through a representative at the Chief Election Officer’s office in Damauli within 24 hours to provide an clarification.
Bhattarai, the ruling coalition’s common candidate, has joined the Nepali Congress as a candidate.
