KATHMANDU: Dr. Prakah Sharan Mahat, the finance minister, formed an advisory council and named three financial industry professionals as his senior economic advisers.

Drs. Bishwanath Poudel, Poshraj Pandey, and Gunakar Bhatta were chosen by Finance Minister Mahat to serve as experts.

The finance minister appointed Paudel and Pandey to serve as unpaid advisors.

The same is about to happen to Bhatta, who is also in charge of the executive director and spokesperson for Nepal Rastra Bank.

A statutory requirement states that the National Bank shall advise the government, particularly the finance minister. In that situation, a Rastriya Bank official has been hired as a consultant by the Ministry of Finance.

Paudel served as the Ojana Commission’s previous vice chair. On Nov 20, he submitted his resignation from the commission and ran for office as a Congress candidate from Chitwan. But he lost the battle.

Pandey is an authority on international trade issues. He is currently employed for the Department of Regulation of Banks and Financial Institutions.
