KATHMANDU: Two matches will be played in the ongoing Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Premier Cup in the capital today.

Group ‘A’ match between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia will be played at Mulpani ground. Malaysia will compete in the second game after the home team fell to Nepal in the first one. The tournament’s opening match is being played by Saudi.

Saudi Arabia desires a winning tournament debut. Nepal has the top spot in this group with 2 points, followed by Oman in second place with the same number of points.

The Group ‘B’ match, which will take place at TU Maidan Kirtipur, will feature Singapore and Bahrain. Singapore wants to win the first game on Wednesday after falling to Hong Kong in the opening contest on Tuesday.

Bahrain wants to start the competition strong as they compete in their opening match. With 2 points, UAE is in first place in Group ‘B’. With exactly two points more than the UAE, Hong Kong is in second place.

Starting at 9 am, both games will begin. Equal 1/1 matches will be played in both venues every day but the championship game.

The TU ground in Kirtipur and the cricket ground in Mulpani will serve as the venues for the tournament’s games, which will last until the 18th day of Baisakh. The 24-game tournament’s championship game will take place at TU Ground on May 1.

Ten nations are competing in this event. There are two groups made up of the 10 participating nations.

The countries that make up Group ‘A’ are the hosts, Nepal, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. Bahrain, Kuwait, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UAE make up Group “B.” In each group, the top two teams will compete in the semifinals. The semi-final winner advances to the final.

The final’s victorious squad will earn a spot in the Asia Cup. In September, the Asia Cup will take place. The top three teams will be chosen for the ACC Emerging Cup in a similar manner.
