Mother’s Day today, a fair at Matatirtha
The importance of mother is more than others as she gives life to the child in her womb for nine months.

KATHMANDU: Every year on the day of Baisha Krishna Paksha Aunsi, the festival of mother’s day is celebrated with reverence and respect by giving sweet food to mothers all over the country.
According to a classical tradition, this festival is observed as a day to express regard, devotion, honor, and respect to the mother—who according to the scriptures is superior to Upadhyaya (Pandit), Acharya, and father—and to ask for her blessings.
Children are expected to get up early, take a bath, dress their mother nicely, and bless her by giving her both savory and sweet foods. By presenting tarpan and pinda to the mother and food to the priest, those who don’t have mothers can honor their deceased mothers and the tremendous and arduous labor they carried out.
According to the Sanatan Vedic scriptures, it is said that every woman must pay her debt to God, human debt and paternal debt. According to Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai, a theologian and member of the Nepal Panchang Jury Committee, the mother who gives birth and the location of birth are greater and more precious than heaven in the Vedic Sanatan Dharma literature “Janani Janmabhoomisch Swargadapi Gariyasi.”
The importance of mother is more than others as she gives life to the child in her womb for nine months. Classical writings make reference to the fact that mothers are a thousand times more important than fathers. Giving the mother who is still alive tasty food and nice clothes is a way to honor her and make her happy.
Tarpan, pindadaan and sidadaan are done with reverence and devotion in the name of the deceased mother. Theologian Bhattarai said that on the day of Baisha Krishna Aunsi, there is a classical belief that the departed mother will be happy and blessed if she performs Shraddha with tarpan, pindaan and sidadaan.
Today, a fair honoring this date is held at Matatirtha in the Chandragiri Municipality. All of the preparations for the fair in Matatirtha have been finished, according to city head Ghanshyam Giri.
According to the committee, this year’s Guru Asta and solar eclipse will be visible in some parts of the world, thus the propaganda that one shouldn’t stare at the mother’s face is false.
The committee’s head, Shrikrishna Adhikari, also stated that Mother’s Day, which is observed annually on the day of Baisha Krishna Aunsi, does not affect the time at which Jupiter sets.
