KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Vice Chair and Member of Parliament Rajendra Prasad Pandey has urged Speaker Devraj Ghimire to order the government to restart building on the Budhi Gandaki hydropower project, which has been stalled.
Mentioning that the country’s biggest hydropower project does not want to proceed, he also said that the government should inform the Parliament about the reason. Speaking at a special time in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Vice Chair Pandey has repeatedly reiterated that the government should not delay the progress of the hydropower project by setting a time limit. He said, ‘Budhi Gandaki hydropower project, a project of national pride, is in a state of limbo. The modality for the construction of the project has also been prepared. Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy, Nepal Electricity Authority has become a shareholder and has also become its construction company. and, This is such a big company. The government did not pay attention to the construction of this project. Still confused. Let this project be started immediately through the speaker. I would like to request the government to come to this rostam as soon as possible and stand up and say that we will start the construction work to complete this project within this year and demand a ruling from the Speaker.
