Constitutional Council meeting ended without a conclusion
Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Chair of the National Assembly, stated after the meeting that no decision was made to proceed with the appointment of the Chief Justice.

KATHMANDU: The morning meeting of the Constitutional Council ended without a decision.
The discussion in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar ended without a decision.
Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Chair of the National Assembly, stated after the meeting that no decision was made to proceed with the appointment of the Chief Justice.
According to him, there has been talk concerning the Chief Justice’s appointment, but no decision has been made.
The post of Chief Justice has been vacant since 13 Dec, 2022 after Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana went on compulsory retirement. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Leader of the Opposition KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana and Deputy Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, who is also the Law Minister, participated in today’s meeting of the Constitutional Council chaired by the Prime Minister.
Earlier, the meeting held in Balkot by the leaders of the three major parties had agreed to proceed with the process of appointing the Chief Justice.
