KATHMANDU: The video for creator Prakash Saput’s new song ‘Sakambari’ has been requested to be taken down.
The Association of Nighttime Entertainment Professional Nepal strongly opposed the video and demanded that it be removed.
The business association issued a statement saying that the message of the song is that all the girls involved in the night business are engaged in prostitution. ‘In your opinion, all the talents that come in the field of art came and were established by prostitution? Do women sell their bodies to get better opportunities and become famous or should they be sold? Does art have no value in that area? Isn’t there a way of hard work and struggle? Are all the women/girls involved in the night business going to prostitution?’, the statement asked.
Sakambari song has also been given the term ‘indigestible’. The statement further said. Is this the image that a person like you who is going to rise up from the ground and struggle to establish himself in the field of Nepali art is trying to create about girls/women in Nepali society? .’
