They were also injured by a police baton attack on Monday in Shanti Batika, and on Tuesday afternoon they staged a protest at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu, shouting anti-Home Minister Shrestha slogans.
They claimed that instead of addressing their requests, Home Minister Shrestha oppressed them by imposing police administration, forcing them to protest.
Some of them were hurt in a scuffle with police on Monday (yesterday) at Shanti Batika in Kathmandu.
Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) coordinator Awadhesh Kushwaha opposed to the government’s harassment of peaceful protesters. He also cautioned that the government is not serious about resolving their issues and that the demonstration will continue until their requests are granted.
The victims complained that the investigating committee established by the government to address the problems of meter usury victims did not function quickly enough.
