Netra Jyoti Sangh’s free eye camps in Humla & Kalikot, 1,688 eye checkups

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh organization concluded a free eye camp in the districts of Humla and Kalikot. 1,688 persons were checked at eye camps in Humla and Kalikot, and 235 received free cataract surgery.

The camp was conducted with the planning and technical support of Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, Himalaya Eye Hospital Pokhara, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh Integrated Eye and Ear Health Program of Karnali State and the special support of Eye Care Foundation.

During an eye camp conducted by the District Eye Treatment Center, Kalikot, 1,078 people had their eyes inspected, 200 people received glasses, and 192 people received free cataract surgery.

Similarly, from April 1st to April 16th, 610 people were checked and glasses were handed to 210 people during an eye camp organized by the local project of Piplang, Chankheli Rural Municipality, Humla, and 43 people received free cataract surgery.

After obtaining eye care services at their homes, the patients, who had been forced to remain blind for a long time due to a lack of access to eye therapy and a lack of resources, were glad and thanked the health workers.

In conjunction with other groups, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh has been holding free eye check-up and surgery camps across the country to ensure that no one goes blind due to a lack of access and financial means.

A team of health workers lead by ophthalmologist Gobindnath Yogi of Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh Himalaya Eye Hospital Pokhara organized the eye camp. The team has completed four free eye examination and surgery camps in the districts of Mugu, Humla, and Kalikot.

Thousands of free eye treatment and surgery camps have been held around the country by Netra Jyoti Sangh facilities in partnership with other groups.

Netra Jyoti Sangh now runs 27 eye hospitals and over 150 eye care facilities across India. The organisation has been offering eye treatment services to individuals in every district of the country through eye hospitals, treatment clinics, and other eye camps.
