KATHMANDU: Meter usury victims have claimed that the police have treated them with extreme oppression and inhumanity. This was said at a press conference held on Tuesday at Shanti Batika.
On Monday afternoon, when the victims were departing for a demonstration in the Singha Durbar neighborhood, police intervened at the Shanti Batika gate and pelted them with water cannons and batons.
They said that the police began the conflict by pelting stones at the them.
Some of the victims were also hurt by the police baton.
The injured people who attended the news conference claimed that the police had abused them.
