Clash between meter usury victims & police, some injured

KATHMANDU: The clash between the victim of the meter usury and the police erupts in Shanti Batika.
The victims clash with police at Shanti Batika in Kathmandu on Monday when they began protesting around the main gate of the Singha Durbar.
After learning of the victims’ preparedness, a significant number of police officers were deployed in the Shanti Batika neighborhood this morning.
During the clash, the police assaulted the meter usury victim with a water canon and a baton.
Several people were injured during the clash. They are being treated at the National Trauma Center.
Although the government reached an agreement with one group of victims on March 31, another group began protesting anew, claiming that the accord did not resolve the victims’ problems.
