Clash between protestors & police in Garuda of Rautahat, one injured in firing

KATHMANDU: A clash broke out between protesters and the police at Garuda Bazar in Rautahat on Wednesday. One person was injured in the clash.

Gajendra Yadav, 22, of Garuda Municipality-5 Laxmipur, is one of those hurt. He was shot in the hand.

To calm the clash, police used 16 rounds of tear gas and bullets.

A clash erupted after a group led by Deepak Yadav, a contender for Garuda mayor, attempted to shut the municipal office.

In order to obtain information on the municipality’s work, the group held programs such as protests and hunger strikes in the municipality.

The vehicles and windows of the municipal office were broken by stone pelting by the protestors.

The police have arrested 4 people including Yadav who were involved in the clash.
